Hello!

What is a Spring or Fall Flare? Something that shoots into the sky?

Definition of Flare: a sudden brief burst of bright flame or light

Fall Flares and EBV is when Epstein Barr suddenly rises in intensity or creates more symptoms. It often happens in the spring and fall. What causes this to happen?

I have heard of spring and fall flares and have noticed them in myself. When I am aware of this phenomenon, I can be prepared to stabilize the situation sooner. For example, I take EBV tea and follow the suggestions below when I have a flare, and it takes care of the symptoms almost immediately with no lingering effects.

Symptoms of my flares are increased fatigue. When I notice I’m saying to myself “I’m so tired” over and over, it triggers an alarm that I need to start taking EBV tea ASAP!

I recently came across a possible reason for the “flares” being in the spring and fall seasons.

“When the sap falls in September (or Fall) everything that ails you will flare up. Same in Spring when the sap rises. This person learned it from a health food owner and has tracked it for years.”

I found this hypothesis in a Facebook group. I have looked and cannot find any scientific research on this topic (YET!), however, it makes sense that the physical changes that happen in Nature can affect us, just as pollen affects those with allergies.

Anyway, I found it interesting. It is good to be aware of possible seasons where you might feel worse so that you can make the changes your body needs. Supporting it early decreases the length of time you will feel lousy.

What are some ways to support your body in a flare? Good question!

Start with the basics. Good nutrition is key.

*Eliminate sugar, and replace it with honey or maple syrup in moderation.

*Increase berries, like blueberries and more.

*Good quality proteins, avoid processed meats

*Make smoothies, if needed to increase the number of fruits/vegetables you can eat.

  • Kale or spinach, cucumber, celery, carrots, and squash

  • Mango, apple, bananas, pear, or berries to sweeten.

  • Seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower, hemp, or chia

  • Protein or collagen powder is nice if needed

  • Add yogurt if tolerated, if not, use dairy-free yogurt or kombucha.

  • Use water or alternative milk to blend.

Sounds gross, but swishing your smoothie around in your mouth and mixing in saliva will activate enzymes and increase the nutrients you can digest. Hope this helps!

To your GOOD health and AMAZING life,

Leanna
